Salary history, where on the one side is supposed to be necessary by a few, large number of peole think that it should not be expected to be asked by the reputed and healthy organizations. Multitudinous ideologies have been mooted out over the salary history by different experts. Going deeper into salary history we can come at a conclusion that salary is a personal matter not to be revealed to every one, be it employer or even your closed friend. This notion has created a delusion in the mind of candidates seeking to have a job which they find themselves competent in.

Should We Reveal Our Salary History On Application ?

There may not be a straightforward answer to this, as the situation happens to vary from organization to organization. Some organizations retrench the candidates by going through their salary structure mentioned on their mandatory forms, to be filled-up by the applying candidates, provided they are supposed to be in their rudimentary stage of job experience.

Suppose if any candidate applying for a job of data entry operator furnishes his resume highlighting his skill as an extraordinary one, which even a technical expert, drawing handsome salary in any top organization, can’t be expected to accomplish successfully, then penning down his salary history with meager amount of money as the salary, will prove to be unproductive. Hardly will any Organization consider a candidate drawing his salary below the general salary supposed to be given to the employees of the same efficiency, suspecting him not to be as much efficient as he should be. Besides, if a candidate mentions his current salary getting it inflated, he can be rejected on the ground of less-package predetermined by the same Company, which he must be applying in.

Actually appointing the candidate depends upon the budget to have already been determined for the salary, by the employing organizations. When salary is the the matter to be fixed by the recruiting companies, without considering candidate’s demand for salary, what is the significance of filling the section seeking to know the salary looked for by the job seeker.

Should We Ignore Our Salary History ?

Yes, we should never give in writing the salary being drawn by us currently, as it has got to go against us. We rather should write in the respective section of application, “Confidential”. Salary is the matter to be discussed with the employer during interview.
